DISORDERS & TREATMENT

To determine the type and location of a brain mass, your WKNI Neuroscience specialist will provide a neurological evaluation and assess mental function (concentration, recall, simple arithmetic and small tasks).

Special imaging techniques such as MRI and PET scans will be used to provide the best map-view of the brain to alleviate unnecessary damage and aid in a brain tumor's removal.

Though WKNI technicians use many different imaging techniques, the most universal to brain tumors are:

MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive method of looking at your body's internal structures without using radiation. MRI can give your physician important information that other tests cannot.

PET - A positron emission tomography (PET) scan is a unique type of imaging test that helps doctors see how the organs and tissues inside your body are actually functioning. Producing a three-dimensional image, your physician can then look at cross-sectional images of the body organ from any angle in order to detect any functional problems.

With these vital diagnostic tools, your WKNI Neuroscience specialist will be able to better understand your specific needs and develop a treatment plan based around you.
