Introduction / Purpose
The department of neuroimaging at Kettering Medical Center consists of three
trained neuroradiologists, as well as a trained MR radiologist.
The equipment is state-of-the-art and consists of a total of four
CT scanners, two of which use helical speed imaging. The hospital plans
to update another one of these CT scanners to helical imaging in the very
near future. There are a total of three MRI scanners, one of which is
capable of performing both diffusion and spectroscopic imaging, which is
very important in stroke and tumor imaging.
There is a dedicated MR physicist on staff (Dr. Mehdi Adineh). In addition,
the entire department is linked with a high speed digital information transfer
system (PACS), which allows not only each of the radiologists, but many
referring physicians, to access and review imaging examinations within seconds
after completion, either outside the hospital or within the hospital.
Furthermore, each of the neuroradiologists is linked with the hospital using
a computerized data transfer system, which allows them to review neuroimaging
examinations at home and during the night within minutes after their completion.
The neurosurgery suite is also linked with the neuroimaging department. This
assists in image guided surgery.
